The Apple Store Chronicles: Pajamas, Slippers, and the Death of Dignity
Walking into the Apple Store in West Hartford today felt less like entering a cutting-edge tech hub and more like stumbling into a sleepover at a mall. Once a sleek, white temple to innovation, itās now overrun by patrons who, at best, seem to have confused it with their living room. And let me tell you, Farmington, the vibe is⦠cozy. Too cozy.
Back then, an Apple Store visit meant mingling with sharp-dressed tech enthusiasts or at least one aging hippie who treated his MacBook like a prized guitar. Today? The man in front of me wore pajamas that might double as a Rorschach test, and his feet were encased in slippers that could not have been made for walking. Behind him, a woman in a hoodie screamed into her phone, presumably trying to unlock her toddlerās iPad with sheer willpower.
I was there to sort out my gadget woes (an iPhone that refuses to acknowledge Iām the boss of it), but the scene was so absurd I half expected someone to pull out a pillow and curl up in the corner. I donāt know, folks: If this is what progress looks like, maybe itās time to reboot.
This isnāt just a rant about questionable fashion choices or hygiene standards. Itās about what the Apple Store once symbolized: a shared ambition for something bigger, shinier, and better. Now, itās a space where entitlement runs rampant, and the dress code screams, āIāve given up.ā Is it too much to ask for people to show up for the future as if they believe in it?
