FARMINGTON — East Farms Elementary School has its next principal. The Board of Education voted Monday, Oct. 19, to appoint Amy Borio, who has led Pine Grove School in Avon since 2021. The district says she will begin at East Farms "this coming fall." East Farms has been led by an interim administrator, as has Farmington High.
Borio has spent more than 30 years in public education, according to the district, the last several at Pine Grove, where she was assistant principal for four years before becoming principal.
Board Chair Andrea Sobinski said Borio "stood out for her strong instructional background."
Borio thanked the search committee, the board, Superintendent Jess Giannini, her Avon colleagues and her family. "I cannot wait to get into the hallways and classrooms and meet our students and hear their stories and discover what makes them shine," she told the board.
