FARMINGTON — Last Thursday, in this publication's inaugural arrest log, the Farmington Police Department arrested one person on a single count of larceny in the sixth degree — the sixth and lowest degree of larceny under Connecticut law. A $2,500 bond was posted. Town continued.

This is not that log.

In the 24-hour period ending at 7:00 Friday morning, the Farmington Police Department arrested two people. The charges include third-degree burglary, which is a Class D felony. The bond on one count alone is $75,000. Officer Aiello is not involved; Officer Jeffrey A. Glaude is. The log has changed registers.

The morning began at 10:23 a.m. Thursday, when Officer Glaude arrested Joseph Kenneth Johnson, 39, of 731 Quinnipiac Avenue, New Haven, at GA 18 — the Geographical Area 18 courthouse in Hartford. Mr. Johnson is charged with larceny in the third degree under Connecticut General Statutes §53a-124, which covers theft of property valued between $2,000 and $10,000. It is a Class D felony. It is several tiers above last week's entry in this space. A $1,000 bond was set. The incident number is 2600002766.

Thirteen minutes later, at 10:36 a.m., Officer Glaude was still at GA 18. William Martin, 40, of 35 Union Street, Winsted, was arrested on two charges: burglary in the third degree under §53a-103 and larceny of a motor vehicle (first offense) under §53a-119c. A bond of $75,000 was set on the burglary count. No bond was required for the motor vehicle count. The incident number is 2500012932.

Both arrests were warrant arrests. Both men were served habeas — the variety of court order that commands a person be brought before the court. Both had court dates the same day they were arrested.

Officer Glaude's Thursday morning, in other words, was conducted at close range: two warrant arrests, same location, 13 minutes apart.

Neither Mr. Johnson nor Mr. Martin is from Farmington. Mr. Johnson is from New Haven. Mr. Martin is from Winsted, in Litchfield County, northwest of Hartford. This publication continues to note, without editorial comment, that Farmington's arrest log is drawing visitors from across the state.

All persons named in the Farmington Police Department arrest log are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Total arrests for the 24-hour period: 2. Officer Glaude's morning: 2 for 2. Town continues.
