FARMINGTON — A Farmington man was charged Monday evening with third-degree assault and risk of injury to a child, the only arrest on the Farmington Police Department's log for the 24 hours ending at 7 a.m. Tuesday.

Monday, Oct. 26

6:27 p.m., 319 New Britain Avenue, the Farmington Police Department. Detective Alexa N. Hopkins arrested Ananthanarayana Dharmalingam, 39, of Farmington, and charged him with risk of injury to a child under section 53-21 of the Connecticut General Statutes and third-degree assault under section 53a-61. Bond was $2,500, nonsurety, on the assault count. A nonsurety bond is a written promise to appear with a dollar amount attached; no cash changes hands. The log lists no bond on the risk-of-injury charge. The remarks line reads "Arrested in connection with Assault. Posted bond." Court date Tuesday, Oct. 27, the day after the arrest.

The log gives the police station as the place of arrest. It does not describe what happened, and it names no one else.
