FARMINGTON — A Hartford man was charged with four counts of risk of injury to a child, third-degree assault and interfering with an emergency call after an arrest on Maple Avenue Monday night, and was held on a $25,000 bond.

The Farmington police logs for the five days ending at 7 a.m. Tuesday list six arrests. A Vernon man was arrested twice at the police department in under 18 hours, both times in connection with domestic violence. A New Britain driver arrested early Saturday faced seven motor vehicle charges, one of them DUI. Nothing was logged from 7 a.m. Saturday to 7 a.m. Monday.

Thursday, July 25

6:29 p.m., Farmington Police Department. Officer Nicholas G. Karangekis arrested Kevin C. Tolman, 66, of Vernon. The log lists no charge for this arrest; its remarks read: "Arrested in connection with domestic violence. Posted bond." Court date July 26.

Friday, July 26

10:54 a.m., Litchfield Road. Officer Aaron M. Benham arrested Toronjio Damall Hudson, 53, of Southington. The log lists no charge for this arrest; its remarks read: "Arrested in connection with domestic violence. Posted bond." Court date July 29.

12:14 p.m., Farmington Police Department. Officer Daniel R. Aparo arrested Kevin C. Tolman, 66, of Vernon, a second time, and charged him with first-degree violation of conditions of release. The log lists the bond as nonsurety, with no dollar amount. A nonsurety bond is a written promise to appear; no cash changes hands. The remarks again read "Arrested in connection with domestic violence," and he posted bond. Court date July 29.

Saturday, July 27

12:47 a.m., Scott Swamp Road and New Britain Avenue. Officer John M. Finn arrested Juan Jose Torres, 28, of New Britain, and charged him with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, speeding over 60 mph, improper use of markers, license or registration, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle without a license, failure to carry a registration or insurance card, and operating a motor vehicle under suspension. Bond was $5,000, nonsurety (the log adds "Pre-CISS"), on the DUI count, and none on the other six. He posted bond. Court date Aug. 7.

The log charges him both with driving without a license and with driving under suspension, which covers the license question from both ends.

Monday, July 29

10:41 a.m., an address the log lists as 101 Lafayette Street. Officer Zachary J. Martin arrested William E. Leers, 40, of Unionville, on a warrant charging disorderly conduct. The log lists the bond as surety, with no dollar amount, and says he was held on bond. A surety bond requires a bail bondsman or other guarantor. Court date July 30.

9:00 p.m., Maple Avenue. Officer Nicholas G. Karangekis arrested Shervon Harvey Lecompte, 38, of Hartford, and charged him with interfering with an emergency call, second-degree breach of peace, four counts of risk of injury to a child and third-degree assault. Bond was $25,000, surety, on the emergency-call charge, and none on the others. The remarks read: "Arrested in connection with Breach of Peace. Held on bond." Court date July 30.

The log does not say what led to any of the week's arrests, or who else was involved.

Jack Beckett has typed up enough Farmington arrest logs to know that seven charges in one arrest is not a record, just a long paragraph. He is on his third coffee and has stopped counting the commas. ☕
