FARMINGTON — A Hartford man was arrested five times in the same minute at 1600 Southeast Road on Wednesday, July 10: once on a sixth-degree larceny charge and four times on warrants charging violation of probation. He was held on bond on all five.

In all, the department's log lists 23 arrests for the nine days from 7 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, to 7 a.m. Friday, July 19. Seven were at Westfarms Mall. Eleven of the 23 entries list no charge, only a line of remarks. The log was blank from Saturday morning, July 13, to Monday morning, July 15.

Wednesday, July 10

1:34 p.m., 1 Tunxis Mead Road. Officer Alex W. Jones arrested Rachel Pass, 20, of Canton, and Matthew Sprague Smith, 21, of Avon, under one incident number. The log lists no charge for either; the remarks for both read: "Arrested in connection with Trespassing. Released on bond." Court date July 17.

3:31 p.m., Westfarms Mall, 500 South Road. Officer Allison C. Vitkus arrested Frances Hornedo, 26, of New Britain, in connection with shoplifting and charged her with larceny in the sixth degree. Bond was $1,500, nonsurety. A nonsurety bond is a written promise to appear with a dollar amount attached; no cash changes hands. She posted bond. Court date July 17.

Under state law, sixth-degree larceny is theft of property or services worth $500 or less, a class C misdemeanor.

5:47 p.m., 1600 Southeast Road. Officer Richard E. Bianchi arrested Daniel Christian Daniels-Manriquez, 38, of Hartford, five times. The first arrest, in connection with shoplifting, charged him with larceny in the sixth degree. The other four were re-arrest warrants, each charging violation of probation, meaning he is accused of breaking the terms of an earlier probation sentence. The log lists each as its own arrest with its own incident number, all at 5:47 p.m. Every bond is marked surety, with no dollar amount. A surety bond requires a bail bondsman or other guarantor. He was held on bond on all five. Court date July 11 on four of them and July 12 on one.

Thursday, July 11

9:25 a.m., Hartford Superior Court. Officer Jones arrested Gabriel Ortiz, 33, of New Britain, on a warrant charging larceny in the sixth degree. The log lists no bond type or amount. He was held on bond. Court date July 11.

Jack Beckett has reported on the Farmington arrest log long enough to know that "Held on bond" and "Posted bond" are the two endings available, and that the log rarely explains which. This stretch took three coffees. ☕
