A Hartford man was booked at Farmington police headquarters Tuesday on a warrant charging him with stealing a firearm and carrying a pistol without a permit. He was held on a $50,000 bond. The log says nothing else about the case.
Jefzabdiel Roman Reyes, 20, of 186 Lawrence Street in Hartford, was arrested at noon July 21 at 319 New Britain Avenue, the Farmington Police Department's address and the place where the department serves outstanding warrants. Officer Nicholas G. Karangekis made the arrest.
The warrant lists four charges: criminal mischief in the second degree, larceny in the fifth degree, stealing a firearm, and carrying a pistol without a permit. The log puts a $50,000 surety bond on the larceny count and $0.00 beside the other three. Roman Reyes did not post it. He was held, with a court date of August 4.
And that is the entire public record of it. The log does not say what was taken, or from whom, or when the conduct behind the warrant is alleged to have happened. It records that a man was booked, on which statutes, and for how much.
The day's other arrest came Tuesday evening.
Luke Razo, 26, of 105 South Street Extension in Bristol, was arrested at 6:54 p.m. at Route 6 and I-84 by Officer John M. Finn. The log records two charges, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs and illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, and the department filed the arrest as a driving-under-the-influence case. The impaired-driving count carried a $2,500 non-surety bond. The weapon count carried $0.00. Razo posted and was released. His court date is also August 4.
Those were the only two arrests in the twenty-four hours ending at 7 a.m. Wednesday. Neither man lives in Farmington, which is true of most people who turn up on this log.
