Farmington police logged two arrests Thursday, both of New Britain residents and both stemming from a single retail-theft incident across the town line in West Hartford, according to the department's daily arrest report.

The report, which covers the 24 hours beginning at 7 a.m. Thursday, lists two defendants — two 19-year-old women arrested together at 8:53 p.m. Thursday at 1501 New Britain Avenue in West Hartford. Both share the same home address, 65 Monroe Street in New Britain, and both were processed under the same incident number by the same officer.

Kalina Marie Dejesus, 19, was charged with sixth-degree larceny in connection with a shoplifting complaint. She was held on a $2,500 nonsurety bond, which she posted, and is scheduled to appear in court June 18. Officer John A. Salute was the arresting officer.

Miyah Riddick Ireland, 19, was charged with first-degree criminal trespass in connection with the same incident. She was held on a $2,500 nonsurety bond, which she also posted, and is likewise scheduled to appear June 18. Officer Salute made that arrest as well.

The pairing of charges — one larceny, one trespass, on a single shared incident number — is the report's only entry of note, and it is the second straight day the log has run light. Wednesday's report listed three arrests.

Under Connecticut law, sixth-degree larceny (C.G.S. 53a-125b) covers theft of property valued at $500 or less. First-degree criminal trespass (C.G.S. 53a-107) applies when a person enters or remains in a building or on property in defiance of an order to leave, communicated by the owner or another authorized person. The distinction between a surety and a nonsurety bond is whether a bail bondsman or other guarantor is required: a surety bond requires one; a nonsurety bond does not.

Both charges are accusations. Each defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

The Farmington Police Department publishes its arrest log daily. Thursday's report listed two total arrests.
