Farmington Police Log, Sept. 24 to 25: One Man, Two Warrants, One Afternoon

Both arrests in the 24 hours ending Friday morning belong to one man: a Wethersfield man, 47, arrested on two warrants at the West Farm Shopping Center an hour and 45 minutes apart, and held on bond both times. It is his fifth date in the logs the Mercury holds.

Farmington Police Daily Arrest Report

FARMINGTON — The log covering 7 a.m. Thursday through 7 a.m. Friday lists two arrests, and both belong to the same man, arrested on two warrants at the same shopping center an hour and 45 minutes apart. The log before it was blank.

Thursday, Sept. 24

2:35 p.m., 1600 Southeast Road, the address of the West Farm Shopping Center. Officer Joseph G. Aiello arrested Robert Derron Hinton, 47, of Wethersfield, on a warrant charging first-degree criminal trespass under section 53a-107 of the Connecticut General Statutes and sixth-degree larceny under section 53a-125b. Bond was $1,000, surety, on the larceny count. The trespass count carries no bond amount of its own. The log's remarks line says he was held on the bond rather than released. Court date Sept. 25.

4:20 p.m., 1600 Southeast Road. Officer Grace L. Petersen arrested Hinton a second time on a re-arrest warrant charging second-degree failure to appear under section 53a-173(a)(1). The entry carries its own incident number, the department's case number, so it is a separate matter from the first. The log lists the charge as failure to appear on pending charges but does not say which case. Bond was $1,000, surety, and the remarks line again says he was held. Court date Sept. 25.

Two warrants, one address, one afternoon.

Hinton is not new to the log. In the department's logs the Mercury holds, which go back to July 2023, his name appears on five earlier entries across four dates: Jan. 16, 2024, and May 4, 2026, both at 1600 Southeast Road; May 16; and twice on June 9. The address is a familiar one in its own right: in the three years of the log from July 2023 through July 2026, 77 entries list 1600 Southeast Road as the place of arrest.

Sixth-degree larceny covers property or services worth $500 or less and is a Class C misdemeanor, the lowest of the state's six larceny degrees. First-degree criminal trespass is a Class A misdemeanor. A surety bond requires cash, property or a bail bondsman's signature as collateral before release, in the state Judicial Branch's definition.

Everyone named here is presumed innocent, and an arrest log records charges, not outcomes.

This coverage is supported by Farmington Storage, 155 Scott Swamp Road, the only storage facility in Connecticut with Museum air. The Mercury keeps every one of these logs, back to 2023, which is how a name can be checked against three years of pages. Farmington Storage keeps things for the long run too, in conditions the rest of us only get in a gallery. 860.777.4001 📦

The Farmington Mercury covers the town nobody else is covering: police logs, zoning fights, school budgets, the meetings that run past 10 p.m. All of it, eventually, correctly. Our motto is "Always last to breaking news." Find us at farmingtonmercury.com and tell a neighbor. #WeAreFarmington 📰

The Farmington Mercury publishes the Farmington Police Department's daily arrest log as a matter of public record. All individuals named are presumed innocent unless and until convicted. Charges reflect allegations by police, not findings of a court.
